Taika Waititi to Direct Disneyland-Themed 'Tower of Terror' Movie

Director Taika Waititi of “Thor: Ragnarok” signed a contract to direct the new Disney film, “Tower of Terror” at the beginning of the year.

The new feature film produced by actress Scarlett Johansson “The Avengers” and “Black Widow”went through problems behind the scenes in the middle of the year when he saw the actress clash with Disney due to contractual issues related to the film “Black Widow”. Rumors even suggested that director Taika Waititi would be out of the film's production due to this disagreement.

However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress and Disney reached an understanding and the original project with Taika Waititi as director “Tower of Terror” and Scarlett Johansson as producer was unaffected.

The film's script is written by Josh Cooley of “Toy Story 4” and “Inside Out”.

Although details of the film have not yet been revealed, the story of the film is about the popular Walt Disney World attraction, the Tower of Terror, which was built in 1994 at the amusement park.

In 2015, Disney was already planning to produce a film about the attraction with John August, “Corpse Bride”, writing the script and with Jim Whitaker producing. “Peter Pan & Wendy”. which is scheduled to premiere next year. The project, however, ended up being shelved at the time.

The first Disney film based on the park's attractions was “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” and was the first in the successful franchise, which now has a sequence of four other films.
