Tatiana Maslany criticizes Disney CEO and causes controversy in Hollywood actors' strike

Actress Tatiana Maslany, who plays She-Hulk in the Marvel cinematic universe, has become the center of attention recently, not only for her artistic talents, but also for her firm stances in relation to the Hollywood actors' strike.

Tatiana did not hesitate to publicly criticize Disney CEO, Bob Iger, for his controversial statements about the actors' strike and caused repercussions for his position.

Disney CEO's Controversial Statements

Maslany was irritated when he heard Bob Iger classify the movements of striking actors and screenwriters as “disturbing” and claim that unions were “out of touch with reality.”

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter magazine, while participating in pickets in front of the Netflix studio in New York, the actress argued that Bob Iger does not understand the essential work of the professionals who make his programs possible, attract audiences and generate revenue.

With experience working on a Disney series, Maslany commented that he knows the situations in which people are exploited and how money is not shared fairly with the cast and crew, including writers. She highlighted the importance of recognizing the efforts of everyone involved in the production of the series.

Maslany also mentioned that she has friends who have worked in the entertainment industry for decades and have lost their health insurance due to relatively low minimum wages, which has left them feeling neglected.

When the series “She-Hulk: Defender of Heroes” (2022), a collaboration between Marvel and Disney+, was released, it sparked controversy online due to reports from the visual effects team about poor working conditions.

Understand the strike of Hollywood screenwriters and actors

The Hollywood actors' strike was made official on July 14 and joined the writers' strike, which has been ongoing since May. There is no forecast for the end of these strikes at this time.

Unions are demanding fairer working conditions, including adequate pay in the context of streaming and regulation of artificial intelligence, among other demands.

With the Actors Guild joining the strike, they joined the Screenwriters Guild (WGA), resulting in a strike that is expected to affect several sectors of the Hollywood industry. This will be the first actors strike in 23 years.
