Taylor Swift releases re-recording of “This Love” from her album 1989

Singer Taylor Swift released the re-recording of the song “This Love” in the early hours of this Friday (06). The song has “Taylor Version” in its title, demonstrating the way Swift found to recover the copyright of the recordings. The single, which can be heard on the Spotify platform, talks about the dualities of love, defining it as “good” and “bad” and reflecting on the power of feelings in the lives of lovers.

The announcement of the premiere of “This Love (Taylor's version)” took place on the singer's Instagram, reaching millions of likes. To promote the new work, Taylor published a video from the series “The Summer That Changed My Life”, a new Prime Video production that features Swift's music on its soundtrack. In the caption of the post, the artist thanked those responsible for the work and was moved by the repercussion of the song:

“I was always very proud of this song”he stated.

Before releasing “This Love”, Taylor had already re-recorded “Wildest Dreams”, both from the album 1989, released in 2014 by the Big Machine record label. At the time, the song went viral on TikTok and, some time later, Taylor released a re-recording of the single, which was included on the soundtrack for “Spirit: The Indomitable”.

Although a re-release seems strange, the celebrity had to re-record her songs after purchasing the copyrights, in 2019, by businessman Scooter Braun, with whom she has considerable differences.

In her words, the interpreter of “You belong with me” accuses Braun of involvement in attacks she suffered at the time of her disagreement with rapper Kanye West. Braun later sold the master recordings to an investment fund; however, he would continue to appropriate the benefits arising from playing the tracks on streaming platforms.

For this reason, the “Fearless” composer is leaving her own mark on the songs, through the “Taylor Version”. In addition to the album 1989, Swift re-released “Fearless” and “Red” last year.
