Taylor Swift wears designs by Roberto Cavalli, the designer who died in April

Famous Italian designer Roberto Cavalli passed away on Friday, April 12th this year, at the age of 83. American singer Taylor Swift, paying tribute to the designer, has the brand as one of the main ones in her look set. The Eras Tour, also including other Italian brands, such as Versace and Alberta Ferretti.

The newest dress from the Fearless 'era'

Taylor Swift performed for the first time in Milan, Italy, last weekend, on July 13. The singer appeared wearing a striped and shiny dress, characteristic of one of her country albums released in 2008 and re-released in 2021 with the re-recording called Taylor's Version, which is part of one of the sessions of the show that has been breaking world records.

The dress was custom-made by the brand's current designer, Cavalli's successor, Fausto Puglisi and was inspired by the print called “Ray of Gold” resembling tiger stripes, this was an original creation by Roberto and first introduced in 2007. The print is also among the brand's most recent collections.

Cavalli Legacy

In the 1970s, Roberto Cavalli rose to prominence in France, with his clothes being worn by celebrities such as Brigitte Bardot and Sophia Loren. In 1990, he revolutionized luxury denim, giving the garment a more sensual look. The jeans were worn on the catwalk by model Naomi Campbell, becoming a trend. One of the most striking features of Cavalli's designs is his use of animal prints, such as leopard, tiger and zebra. He was known for reinventing these prints in new colors and patterns.

Cavalli established himself as a major fashion icon, opening stores for his brand around the world and attracting the attention of artists such as Lenny Kravitz and Cindy Crawford, as well as creating lines of perfumes, jewelry, eyewear and even drinks.

His pieces have always been associated with sensuality and luxury, with tight cuts, shiny fabrics and exuberant details. The Italian has also become known as an innovator in the use of printing techniques and fabric treatments, which sets him apart from many others.
