Teatro Oficina publishes a statement on the state of health of Zé Celso

O Teatro Oficinain Ze Celso Martinez Correaissued a public note regarding the state of health of the playwright, who is hospitalized at the Hospital das Clínicas, in São Paulo.

The official note requests that speculations not be made and informs that three other people who were present in the playwright’s apartment, including her husband, director Marcelo Drummond, 60 years old, are being kept under observation due to smoke inhalation.

“PUBLIC NOTE: After a fire in his apartment, early this morning (4/7), Zé Celso was hospitalized. We await official medical bulletins, hoping that the press respects the moment without further speculation”, said the note, published on Oficina’s official Instagram, this afternoon.

“The other three residents of the house, including Marcelo Drummond, are under observation for smoke inhalation. The dog Nagô is also in a veterinary clinic under observation. It is important now that we form a large cord of axé, prayer, protection and healing”, ended the statement.

Teatro Oficina also communicated that the show Valsa no Tempo, which would take place on the night of this Tuesday (4), was cancelled.

Playwright José Celso Martinez Corrêa, known as Ze Celso, is hospitalized at the Hospital das Clínicas, in São Paulo, after a fire broke out in his apartment in the city. According to columnist Mônica Bergamo, from Folha de São Paulo, the playwright had many burns on his body.

His niece, Beatriz Corrêa, said his condition is serious. ′′ He had surgery and is going to ICU. He needed to be intubated. Despite the seriousness of the situation, we were informed that he is stable, but we do not know details, ”she told the newspaper.

The playwright’s husband, the actor Marcelo Drummond, is also under observation at the hospital. They were recently married at Teatro Oficina and lived in the same building, but in separate apartments.

“It was horror, I woke up with flames. And it took me a while to understand that it was real fire”, said Marcelo.
