Tevez is offered to coach Corinthians and the club rejects it

The search for a coach continues at Corinthians, in addition to the already known names speculated, a well-known name at the club emerged this Friday (5) and was soon discarded by the board. Carlitos Tevez. An idol of the club as a player, the now coach was offered to the São Paulo club.

Since the departure of Portuguese coach António Oliveira, Corinthians has been keeping an eye on the market for a new manager. The coach was fired last Tuesday after the 2-0 defeat to Palmeiras in the derby. Since then, Raphael Laruccia, the youth team coach, has been in charge of the main team on an interim basis.

Corinthians continues to have the name of Fábio Carille, current coach of Santos, as the main target to take over the team for the rest of the season. Another strong name that pleases the Corinthians board is that of Ramón Díaz, who recently passed through Vasco.

Carlos Tevez as coach

The Argentine, who had a remarkable time at the club as a player, recently began his coaching career. Having retired as a player in 2021, when he played for Boca Juniors, his last club as an athlete, Tevez took charge of Rosario Central in 2022 and played 24 matches in charge of the Argentine club. The coach achieved six wins, 10 draws and eight losses.

Last year, Tevez was the coach of Independiente, the most successful team in the history of the Copa Libertadores with seven titles. There, they had 14 wins, 11 draws and six losses in 31 games. The Argentine managed to save the team from relegation.

Passage through big clubs as a player

As a field athlete, Carlos Tevez had a good spell at Corinthians, in 78 games, the Argentine scored 46 goals and won the Brazilian title in 2005. The striker also played for major clubs in world football, such as Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus, the latter where he was runner-up in the Champions League, losing the final to Barcelona's Messi, Neymar and Suárez.
