Thales Bretas Wins: Paulo Gustavo Law Recognized

Thales Bretas, comedian's widower Paulo Gustavopublished and reacted on his social networks this Friday (12), about the Law Paulo Gustavowhich bears the artist’s name. The then president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT)this Thursday (11), signed the decree that regulates the Law created last year, guaranteeing the transfer of R$3.8 billion to culture.

The law aims to fund cultural productions and activities as a way of mitigating the social and economic effects caused by the Covid-19 pandemic – the disease from which Paulo Gustavo died in May 2021 – and will be one of the three main forms and standards of incentives fiscal and financial measures to promote Brazilian culture.

“It is very beautiful to see that the PG was associated with incentives for culture, appreciation of theater, cinema and our expressions of art, which are so important for the construction and history of a people. Paulo breathed theater, national cinema, our TV production… he had an immense commitment to the quality of culture, and to all the workers involved in this sector. He left an immense legacy, whose recognition is beautiful, and fair”, Thales wrote.

Thales also wrote about what the reaction and feeling of PG with the tribute. “You must be thrilled to see your name on a project that supports this sector, which has suffered so much due to the pandemic and misgovernment. May the strength and inspiration coming from him illuminate this new phase of our country, and may we value art more and more, because, without a shadow of a doubt, it saves! Transform! PG, always present”, concluded the doctor.

The Paulo Gustavo law, numbered 4963/2021, was created on October 30th, celebrating the Humor Dayto honor him on the same date that the actor and comedian celebrates his birthday. His family and the channel Multishow They suggested this date so that it would come to represent the genre in which he took him and established his brilliant career, where he brought joy to millions of people.
