The Final Kingdom Ends in Season 5!

It was announced last Monday (3), on the website Deadlinethat the series The Last Kingdomfrom the service of Netflix streamingwhich has been on the air since 2015, will come to an end in its fifth season.

The Last Kingdom is based on the book series The Saxon Chronicles by the British author Bernard Cornwellthe story, which takes place in the year 872, when many kingdoms that today belong to England were taken by the Vikingsaccompanies the young man Uthredwho lost his parents in one of the attacks and was then adopted and raised by Vikingsbecoming a warrior who sets out on a mission to conquer the lands where he was born. The plot focuses mainly on the kingdom of Wessexcommanded by King Alfred, the only one to resist the attacks.

We had such an overwhelming response to the last (fourth) season, so we are thrilled to be able to bring the series back for a fifth and final season on Netflix. With such a loyal fan base, we are thrilled to give viewers a chance to follow Uthred on the next leg of his epic journey, where not everyone survives..”

Already Alexander Dreymon (American Horror Story), which interprets Uthred and will direct one of the season's episodes, said: “I love this job. Playing Uthred for five seasons has been an incredible journey. And I am truly grateful to have been given the chance to direct. Being able to direct has given me the opportunity to fully appreciate the incredible talent and skill of our cast and crew. I can’t wait to share this with our fans, without whom none of this would be possible.”

The fifth season is being filmed in Hungary and will have ten episodes, there is no release date yet.
