The last decade has been the hottest in history and demands urgent action

The climate crisis has reached an alarming level, with hot weather posing an immediate threat to humanity. António Guterres himself, UN Secretary-General, represents that we are going through the hottest decade ever known, and 2024 could break the next record. They are increasing their appeal: only immediate, coordinated action can prevent these damaging long-term outcomes.

Global warming out of control

Global heat is something we will not be able to control. Recently, reports from Global Meteorological Area (WMO) suggested that the average temperature observed between 2015 and 2024 reached record levels. In 2023, the number increased by 1.45 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial, which quickly advanced to the Celsius graduation limit explicitly defined in the Paris pact. This increase is recessively associated with the emission of greenhouse gases, mainly the combustion of fossil fuels.

The consequences are increasingly seen. Hot times are hot, dry times are long, and urban areas from flooding are very much returning to everyday life. Glaciers are melting at unprecedented speeds, meaning rising sea levels are poised to flood entire cities. Global warming affects the planet's biota in another way: many animals cannot deal with the sudden change in climate and do not adapt quickly enough to keep up with climate change.

The world feeling the changes

In Brazil, the situation is not just acute. Global biomes, such as the Pantanal and Amazon biomes, are heroes of difficult and long-range fires. In cities like São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, the public deals with challenges such as heat and water shortages, which seriously affect the value of existence and the economy.

Awareness, a fight for everyone

Although the resolve of the government and large corporations is critical to withstand under duress (pressure), the possibility of lay actions must not be reduced. Reduce energy purchases, choose the least disruptive operation and simple material consumption – form these. But the march requires action.

Action amid chaos

Take action to survive climate disaster, decide a common course. Renewable facilities, corporate system stewardship and sustainable action are essential. The environment is shocking, but cooperation between government, corporations and citizens can stop it. The reports issued now deliver the values ​​that allowed the planet to require collective action from all citizens. Every choice today makes tomorrow easier.
