The Legend of the Green Knight is coming to Prime Video in January

Based on the poem Sir Gawain and the Green Knight (written in the 16th century), The Legend of the Green Knight It is a modern version of the story of King Arthur's nephew, a famous knight and British leader in the fight against the Saxon invaders in the 5th and 6th centuries, according to the novels of chivalry. The reinterpretation maintains the dilemma between honor and life, with elements specific to this version.

Starring Dev Patel (from the film Slumdog Millionaire) and directed by David Lowery (A Ghost Story), the film was scheduled for release in 2020. However, its release had to be postponed due to the pandemic. The film was only released worldwide in July of this year by distributor Diamond Films, but ended up not being shown in Brazil.

Set in Great Britain, the film tells the story of Sir Gawain, King Arthur's reckless nephew and the youngest knight of the Round Table, who faces the Green Knight, the one who attacked his uncle. With modern ideas, it is possible to notice several changes in this current version of the story: Gawain is not a knight and the ends of the world are a metaphor for himself. Full of fantasy and adventure, the film will be available from January 21st.

In addition to the film's premiere, Prime Video also announced other releases for early next year. Among them are: The Tender Bar, an American drama based on the work of JR Moehringer, directed by George Clooney and starring Ben Affleck; Hotel Transylvania: Transformation (film 4 in the franchise) and Lord of the Rings (the series), as well as new seasons of the series Star Trek: Picard, Reacher (second season) and The Boys (third season).
