The Little Mermaid returns to US cinemas in a sing-along version, with musical interaction!

The feature film “The Little Mermaid” will return to American cinema, this time in a sing-along version, starting on August 25th. This way, viewers will not only watch the film, but will also be able to interact by singing the songs from the soundtrack.

“The Little Mermaid” managed to break the record of US$500 million at the box office globally, surpassing the film Dumbo, which had US$353,284,621 million.

It is worth noting that the film will also be available on Disney Plus streaming on September 6th.

Differences between animation and feature film

While in the animation, the heartthrob Eric intends to visit new kingdoms and thus find his bride, the small difference presented in the film is that, in it, Eric's main objective is to acquire knowledge through his travels. Furthermore, he wants to free himself from his mother's overprotection, who would like him to stay inside the castle.

The plot is also marked by the absence of the Little Mermaid's grandmother, mother of Triton and also queen of the ocean, who in the original version told the story not only of marine beings, but also of humans to her granddaughters (Ariel and her sisters).

Another important point is Ariel's arrival in the human world. In the original version, Ariel swims to the coast and is found by Sabichão, the famous seagull, later, she is also seen by Eric and the dog Max.

Meanwhile, in the current version she is captured in a fisherman's net, who takes her to be cared for by people from the village.

Halle Bailey's leading role

To be able to handle the costume required for the character, the actress needed to adjust details regarding her performance, relying on specific exercises to develop her movements with her tail.

The training carried out by Halle Bailey consisted of weight lifting, using only the neck muscles. This practice is common not only for the preparation of Formula 1 drivers, but also for synchronized swimming swimmers.

The color of the Little Mermaid was something that was unfortunately often criticized initially, as some people questioned the fact that in the feature film, Ariel was a black mermaid. On the other hand, the film helped not only children, but also teenagers and adults to see themselves in the plot, conveying exactly the message they would like to convey, that of black representation.
