The Rock calls Vin Diesel 'manipulative' for mentioning Paul Walker's death in a post

Everyone already knows that the relationship between actors Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Vin Diesel is not the best, but this relationship has gained new chapters. The former wrestler gave an interview to the website of the North American TV channel CNN, where he lamented Diesel's most recent post on social media, asking for his return to the 'Fast and Furious' franchise.

The actors had a falling out during the filming of the eighth 'Fast' movie, released in 2017. They even exchanged barbs on social media and The Rock announced that he would not return to the franchise's films.

“Vin’s recent public post is an example of his manipulation. I don’t like that he mentioned his children, as well as Paul Walker’s death. Leave them out of this. We had spoken about this a few months ago and we understood each other. My goal all along was to end my run on the incredible Fast & Furious franchise with gratitude and grace. It’s unfortunate that this public exposure has muddied the waters. Regardless, I have confidence in the Fast universe and its ability to consistently please audiences, and I truly wish my former cast and crewmates the best of luck and success in this next chapter.”

In November, Diesel appealed to the public, asking him to put aside the disagreements between the two so that he could end the franchise the way he planned. In addition to mentioning Paul Walker and his children, he also mentioned his friend Paul, calling him by the nickname Pablo.

“My little brother Dwayne… It’s time,” Diesel captioned a photo of a scene between him and The Rock in one of the films in the franchise. “The world awaits the end of Fast 10. As you know, my kids refer to you as Uncle Dwayne in my house. There’s not a holiday that goes by that you and them don’t text each other… But it’s time. The legacy awaits.”

Diesel concluded by stating: “I told you years ago that I would fulfill my promise to Pablo. I swore that we would come and make the best ‘Fast’ in the 10th, which will be the final one! I say this out of love… But you have to come, don’t leave the franchise incomplete, you have a very important role to fulfill. Hobbs cannot be touched by anyone else. I hope you rise to the occasion and fulfill your destiny.”.

The 10th and final film in the franchise is scheduled for release in April 2023. The decision to make this disagreement public came from The Rock in 2016, when he shared a post full of indirect messages to his colleague, deleting it shortly after.

The post that soon made the fight public said: “Some [atores] behave like trustworthy men and true professionals, while others don't. The ones who don't are too cowardly to do anything about it. Scared. When you watch this movie next April and it feels like I'm not acting in some of these scenes, that my blood is actually boiling – you'll be right.”

After the incident, The Rock and Diesel no longer appeared together at the launch events for the eighth 'Fast' movie. The Rock did return to his character in the franchise, but only in the spin-off. 'Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw' (2019), without the presence of the other actors from the main cast of the series. He had made his first appearance in the films starring Diesel in 'Fast & Furious 5: Rio Heist' (2011).
