The Voice in 2018 – A woman says that she already reported sexually transgressive behavior to The voice of Holland in 2018, lawyer Sébas Diekstra confirms to us That is very remarkable, because John de Mol has always said that he was only informed about abuses at the program in April 2019.

Diekstra does not yet want to say who would have been guilty of the cross-border behavior and to whom the woman reported this. He can only say that the woman has filed the complaint with someone from the production of De Mol’s media company Talpa.

It is unclear whether the person within Talpa passed this on to De Mol, or whether the media mogul lied at the beginning of this year. In the BOOS broadcast in which the abuses came to light, he claimed to have only been informed of alleged sexual misconduct at the talent show in April 2019. De Mol was responsible for the TV program until 2019.

According to Diekstra, the woman was told after her complaint that she was “the umpteenth in two years”. The counsel says that he is assisting the woman and that she is still considering making a report.

According to the lawyer, the woman’s report is “apparently buried, without adequately picking it up”. The same seems to have happened with the report about the sexually transgressive behavior of bandleader Jeroen Rietbergen in April 2019.

De Mol was told this in the presence of Rick Brug, who was employed by him at the time and now works for ITV. “The press release that ITV knew nothing about it is therefore not correct,” says Diekstra.

The production company said that the self-employed law firm Van Doorne is also investigating whether people within ITV had been aware of it for some time.

Talpa is surprised about Diekstra

Talpa tells NU.nl that he is surprised that Diekstra did not first report to the company for a rebuttal, “but that again the route is first sought via the press”.

“We have nothing further to add to the previously issued statements,” says a spokesperson for the company. “As stated, we are aware of one case of transgressive behaviour, which was adequately acted upon at the time.”

“As long as it is not clear what exactly the complaint is, where and when it took place and to whom this was reported in 2018, we cannot possibly respond to this. One thing is certain: the management has never achieved this.”

The spokesman also says that Talpa awaits the various investigations of the official bodies in confidence.

Om has launched a criminal investigation

In the meantime, there are six reports to the police against at least Rietbergen, coach Ali B and The Voice director Martijn N.

In April of this year, the Public Prosecution Service (OM) announced that it has launched a criminal investigation into four suspects.

The Public Prosecution Service said that it expects this investigation to take “quite some time”. After the investigation, it will be decided whether there is sufficient evidence to prosecute the suspects.
