Tite's speech reverberates after Flamengo's victory in Minas

During a press conference after Flamengo's 4-2 victory over Atlético-MG last Wednesday (03), coach Tite said he had an “eternal debt” with the Minas Gerais club. With a brief stint at the club in 2005, the former coach of the Brazilian national team lamented the lack of continuity in command of the team, which ended up being relegated that year.

Internal problems and poor results led to the downfall

Tite had a short stint at Atlético-MG in 2005, remaining in the position between April and mid-August. The coach, who had just finished his first stint at Corinthians at the time, did not continue working due to some relationship problems with some of the team's big names and also due to my results. In total, he played 21 games, with four wins, six draws and 11 losses. The club was later relegated, and Tite left his mark on Atlético's history because of this.

“I was not mature enough, trained enough, qualified enough and experienced enough to manage Galo. I was not enough for Atlético's greatness, I was not sufficiently trained. If I knew about the mistakes, I wouldn't make them, because I'm not stupid.” said the current red-black coach.

Leadership and rewarded work

Almost twenty years later and with successful spells at other clubs, Tite found himself back at Flamengo after more than six years in charge of the Brazilian National Team and two World Cups played. Living his honeymoon with the fans, the Argentine coach will take over the club in October 2023 and win the Campeonato Carioca in April. Qualified for the round of 16 of the Libertadores and the Copa do Brasil, the coach has been looking for alternatives amid the absences due to the Copa América.

Leader of the Brazilian Championship, Flamengo returns to the field next Saturday (06) against Cuiabá, at Maracanã, in a game valid for the 15th round.
