Tom Cruise drives in handcuffs in 'Mission: Impossible 7' behind-the-scenes video

The seventh film in the franchise, “Mission: Impossible – Reckoning Part 1” got a new behind-the-scenes video this Monday (19), released by Paramount. In the images shown, Tom Cruisewhich interprets Ethan, appears driving at full speed amid a car chase through the streets of Rome. With just one hand, while the other is handcuffed to Hayley Atwell (“Agent Carter”), the actor faces busy traffic while escaping from the villains.

According to stunt coordinator Wade Eastwood, Cruise actually drove using one hand. It's worth remembering that the 60-year-old heartthrob is known for dispensing with stunt doubles in his action scenes. In the video, director Christopher McQuarrie also appears talking about what it was like to record electrifying chase scenes through the streets of the Italian capital. The film hits theaters on July 12th.

According to the film's synopsis, Hunt and his team will have the most dangerous mission of all, as they will have to track down a weapon that could wipe out all of humanity before the dangerous ones get their hands on it. Along the way, old enemies will reappear and a deadly race around the planet will begin. Given everything, Ethan will have no choice but to accept the mission and face the danger, even having to leave people he loves.

The film follows the events of “Mission: Impossible – Fallout”, which was released in 2018 and reached the highest box office in the franchise, grossing US$791 million worldwide. In addition to Cruise and Hayley, the production also features Pom Klementieff, Rebecca Ferguson, Ving Rhames, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Mariela Garriga, Henry Czerny, Greg Tarzan Davis, Shea Whigham, Chales Parnell, Frederick Schmidt, Cary Elwes, Mark Gatiss, Rob Delaney, Indira Varma and Simon Pegg.
