Tottenham simply wins

The ailing Tottenham Hotspur once again recorded a convincing victory in the Premier League on Saturday. The Londoners won with ease from low-flying Leeds United: 0-4.

After Wednesday night’s 1-0 defeat to Burnley, manager Antonio Conte hinted at a departure from Tottenham. The Italian, frustrated by the fourth defeat in the last five league games, openly doubted whether he is the right man to help the ‘Spurs’ further.

Against Leeds, Conte ‘just’ sat on the bench and saw how Tottenham secured the victory within half an hour. Matt Doherty came in after ten minutes on a tight cross from Ryan Sessegnon and five minutes later it was already 2-0. Dejan Kulusevski, who was taken over from Juventus, was given plenty of space to dribble from the side towards the penalty area and hit the short corner.

Harry Kane added another penny in the 27th minute. The striker was served on the edge by Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and worked the ball nicely into the far corner.

After the break, Leeds should have scored the honorary goal when Hugo Lloris had been knocked out and Stuart Dallas was able to walk towards an empty goal, but he lingered too long and saw his bet blocked.

It was Son Heung-min who took care of the final chord five minutes before time after a beautiful pass from Kane. Steven Bergwijn started on the bench at Tottenham, but was allowed to make his appearance in the 78th minute.

The attacker came on the field for goalscorer Kulusevski. At Leeds United, Pascal Struijk was replaced halfway through by manager Marcelo Bielsa.

Leeds suffered their fourth loss in a row, doing badly in the battle against relegation. Tottenham climbs to seventh place and keeps their sights on fourth place and with that a Champions League ticket.
