Trump to get enhanced security at campaign trails, including bulletproof glass

Donald Trump will have increased security at campaign rallies in his bid for US president. The Secret Service is talking about bulletproof glass, as reported by the international press on Thursday (15).

It is already known that security measures will be adopted, such as technological changes and more agents at rallies.

Bulletproof glass installed on site

Many of these measures have already been in place since the attempted murder of the former president and presidential candidate at a rally in Pennsylvania. At the time, Trump was shot in the ear, and one person died and two others were seriously injured. Ten days after the incident, Kimberly Cheatle, director of the Secret Service, resigned from her position.

Former US presidents have already used bulletproof glass in speeches, and the Department of Defense is responsible for installing it, and transporting it using a transport operation that includes planes. But in this case, the installations will be made at the rally locations where Trump will be attending.

Bulletproof glass will be used mainly in open areas, while for indoor events, each individual will be searched before accessing the premises.

It's not an open-air withdrawal

Regarding further information about the security of the events that Donald Trump will attend, the Secret Service said only that “Due to operational security, we cannot comment on specific means or methods of protection”.

Donald Trump expressed regret, saying he is not giving up on outdoor rallies, according to the Guardian. And the Washington Post reported that the glass would also be used by candidate Kamala Harris, a Secret Service official said.

Still on the subject of the attack on Trump, the current acting director of the Secret Service, Ronald L. Rowe Jr., described the attack as a failure of the security services and added that the agents should have had better cover on the roof from which the shots were fired. Therefore, the current changes demonstrate real enhanced security to protect former president and candidate Donald Trump.
