new Assassin’s Creed games – The Assassin’s Creed game series is already fifteen years old. Publisher Ubisoft recently announced three new titles in the series, including one that fans have been asking for for years. In addition, the company hinted at a fourth new game.

Ubisoft unveils four new Assassin’s Creed games

In the Assassin’s Creed games, you always play a member of the Order of assassins, who fights against the Templars. Both sides are searching for technological relics left on Earth by a technologically advanced civilization.

The games process this in window narratives, in which a character from the ‘present’ experiences the genetic memory of his or her ancestors via a special machine. Net, the result is a kind of time machine, so that each game takes place in a different historical period.

The most recent Assassin’s Creed, the viking epic Valhalla, appeared again in 2020. Although a number of expansions have now appeared for it (and the last ‘chapter’ will soon be added for free), a really new game was not released.

Series returns to its roots

That’s going to change in 2023, with Assassin’s Creed Mirage. With this, the historical science fiction series goes back to the Middle East, specifically Baghdad. The protagonist is Basim, who played a supporting role in Valhalla.

With AC Mirage, the series returns to its roots. Instead of an open world RPG like Odyssey, Origins, and Valhalla, Mirage will be “a more linear and story-oriented experience, focusing on action and sneaking,” according to its creators.

What that means in practice is not entirely clear. Publisher Ubisoft did not show any gameplay footage of the game.

Games in Japan and China

In addition to Mirage, there are a number of other games coming. The most eye-catching is the game that is still known under the code name Red. This game takes place in feudal Japan, a setting that fans have been asking for for years. No images of Assassin’s Creed Red were shown either.

There is also a mobile Assassin’s Creed game in development, which takes place in ancient China. And finally, the developers hinted at a title, called Assassin’s Creed Hexe. Of these, only an animated logo was shown.

The atmosphere of the short fragment full of branches and the title suggest that this is a game that takes place in the seventeenth century around the salem witch trials in the American state of Massachusetts. But that’s just a guess, because more information was not given.
