UEFA to pay Bilbao £1.3m for damages, European Championship games update.
Bilbao will receive €1.3 million in damages from UEFA for the loss of the organisation of European Championship matches. Bilbao Mayor Juan Mari Aburto announced this on Friday.
Bilbao have also been promised two European finals, according to Aburto. The municipality is allowed to host finals of the Europa League and the Women’s Champions League. It would be the years 2024 and 2025 respectively.
Bilbao, like the Irish capital Dublin, was taken out of the schedule because the municipality could not guarantee that crowds would be allowed into the stadiums despite the corona measures.

The Spanish city would have four games, which are now played in Seville. Dublin’s matches are spread over London and St Petersburg. As a result, the European Championship has only eleven instead of twelve host cities
