Ukrainian and Russian musicians
The Ukrainian pianist Anna Fedorova and the Russian cellist Maya Fridman are organizing a benefit concert for the victims of the war in Ukraine. On Sunday 6 March they will collect money for Giro555 together with other musicians in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw.
The Dutch violinist and daughter of Russian musicians Liza Ferschtman, the Georgian pianist Nino Gvetadze and the Dutch cellist Quirine Viersen, who was co-trained by father Ferschtman, will also play during the concert.
Camerata RCO, an ensemble consisting of members of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, accompanies the musicians.
Initiator Fedorova wants to “show the connecting power of music and call for peace” by performing with the Russian Fridman.
She states that it is impossible for her to express in words what she feels. “With my Ukrainian and Russian origins, this war is an unimaginable nightmare that has become reality.”
The Great Hall, where the concert will take place, will be lit in blue and yellow, the colors of the Ukrainian flag. Ticket sales started

Also fundraising from the cultural sector
In addition, the cultural sector as a whole will take action for Ukraine next weekend. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, several activities are organized by cultural organizations. Part of the proceeds of an activity or day is donated to Giro555. The public is also being urged to deposit money.
Theaters, museums, cinemas, music venues and monuments will light up this weekend in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. In addition, moments for “contemplation” will be organized for the public.
This allows visitors to reflect on the situation in Ukraine prior to a performance, tour or workshop.
The program and the participating institutions will be announced from Wednesday via the website h-artforukraine.nl . The campaign is an initiative of the Taskforce Cultural and Creative Sector, a partnership of more than a hundred industry, professional and interest organisations.
