– trending news updates, world news, local news and all about nations, states and governments.
This Friday (6), the Uruguayan Ministry of Foreign Affairs made a request for the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to carry out an investigation into possible crimes committed against humanity by Venezuela.
Following the request for the investigation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs delivered some “complete and objective” information that will assist in the investigations that the ICC has been conducting since 2018. Prosecutors continue to gather information about Nicolás Maduro's actions, but so far no one has been charged or tried for the possible crimes.

Notice
In a note written and signed by Uruguayan Chancellor Omar Paganini, Montevideo speaks of a crisis that is not only humanitarian, but also institutional, and that this crisis would be due to the elections of July 28, and asks prosecutor Karim Khan to investigate the events inside Venezuela, so that from this investigation they can confirm that it really is a humanitarian crime and thus take urgent measures to guarantee the rights of the people who are being threatened and oppressed.
Venezuela's response
CNN contacted the Venezuelan government to find out what its position is regarding Uruguay's requests for investigations into Venezuela, but has not yet received a response. The requests for investigations stem from crises that are occurring due to civil oppression against the Venezuelan population, as a result of the elections of July 28 of this year. Among the acts committed are forced disappearances, murders, torture and electoral fraud. On August 14, the senator from the National Party of Uruguay presented a proposal that would in a way encourage the Uruguayan government, and other countries, to take a firm stance against an oppressive regime.
