Videoland has almost 1.1 million paying subscribers

Streaming service Videoland had 1,092,000 paying subscribers on December 31. According to CEO Sven Sauvé of owner RTL Nederland, this is “steady growth”.

Sauvé announced this on Thursday morning during the presentation of the annual figures of RTL.

Videoland’s growth was partly due to series such as Mocro Maffia , Forca Koeman and Special Forces VIPS .

According to unofficial figures, Videoland is the second streaming service in terms of the number of paying subscribers. Netflix tops that list.

According to the CEO, the TV channels also went well. “In our core target group, the market share rose spectacularly from 31.7 percent in 2020 to 34.2 percent in 2021.” This was mainly thanks to RTL 4 and programs such as De Verraders and The Masked Singer .

“Our news and current affairs programs have also continuously performed well,” says Sauvé.

The advertising market has “quickly recovered” for the media group after the dip in 2020 and has exceeded expectations.

The income is now at a higher level than before the corona crisis.

RTL Nederland announced last year that it wanted to merge with Talpa Network. The competition watchdog ACM is currently examining whether the merger can go ahead .
