Vini Jr will get a documentary on Netflix

With a 23-second teaser, the Netflix announced this Tuesday (13), that it is producing a documentary about the life and career of Vinícius Jr. The production has been in development since September last year and is scheduled to debut in 2025. At 22 years old, Vini Jr plays for the Spanish team Real Madrid, where he wears the number 7 shirt and is considered one of the best players today.

The doc's episodes must follow important moments in Vini's life. Like the title-winning goal scored by the athlete in the 2022 Champions League final, where Real played against Liverpool. His heroic appearance at the World Cup wearing the Brazilian team's shirt and also as a great spokesperson against racism.

“Being able to tell my story and inspire girls and boys from all over the world to follow a successful path in sport is what inspires me most about this project. Football has a transformative role for young people, especially in Brazil, and this film can bring this transformative power to the entire world”, Vini Jr said in a statement.

Playing on the left wing, the Brazilian player became a success in Europe, where he has also been a victim of racism in recent months. The most recent case that had global repercussions took place at the Mestalla Stadium, in a clash against the Valencia team in the Spanish league. At the time, the athlete was called a “monkey” by fans of the opposing team. The game was stopped for a few minutes. Upon hearing the insults, Vini decided not to remain silent and at the end of the match he published a text on his social networks where he seemed to want to leave the Spanish championship.

“I will go all the way against racists. Even far from here”, declared.

The documentary about Vini Jr's life will be directed by Andrucha Waddington (“Annita: Made In Honório”) and script by Emílio Domingos.
