Operating system downgrade: step by step

Time required: 10 minutes

  1. Download Android SDK Platform-Tools

Download the Android SDK Platform-Tools package, which contains the ADB tool (Android
Debug Bridge), essential for the process, according to your PC's operating system, whether Windows, Mac (iOS) or Linux.

  2. Extract the file to a folder on your computer and install the program, as with any other program.

Alternatively, you can use Nexus Tools, available for Windows, Mac and Linux, which helps ensure you always have the latest version of Platform-Tools.

  3. On your smartphone, enable USB debugging and OEM Unlocking

First, activate Developer Options on your smartphone: go to Settings >
    About Phone.

  4. Go to “Version number” and click repeatedly until a confirmation message appears that you have become a developer

  5. Now in Settings > System > Advanced > Developer Options, enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking

Options may vary depending on your device model.

  6. Download the Factory Image to your Device

Go to the official website of your smartphone manufacturer and download the factory image of the
Android 14 version corresponding to your specific model. Then extract the downloaded file and move it to the folder where Platform-Tools is located.

  7. Connect your device to your computer using a USB cable.

Then open the Platform-Tools folder, type “cmd” in the file manager address bar (or open the terminal if you are on a Mac or Linux).

  8. Boot the Device into Bootloader Mode

This may vary depending on your model. Connect your device to the computer using a USB cable, then open the Platform-Tools folder, type “cmd” in the file manager address bar (or open the terminal if you are on a Mac or Linux). Run the command adb reboot bootloader to boot the device into bootloader mode.

  9. Unlock Bootloader

In the terminal, run the command: fastboot flashing unlock. Confirm on your device (the message may appear on your cell phone). Use the volume and power buttons to confirm. ATTENTION: Note that this step will erase all data on the device.

  10. Confirm on your cell phone

Confirm on your device (the message may appear on your cell phone). Use the buttons
volume and power to confirm. Note that this step will erase all data from the
    device.

  11. Install the factory image
With the terminal still open in the Platform-Tools folder, run the command flash-all (or ./flash-all.sh on Mac/Linux). This command will install Android 14 version on the device.

  12. Relock Bootloader (optional)

After you complete the downgrade, if you want to continue receiving automatic updates
(OTA), relock the bootloader by running the command fastboot flashing lock.

  13. Restart the Device

After the process is complete, restart the device, and it will be back to normal.
