Time required: 3 minutes

  1. Open Control Center, tap Focus, then tap Sleep.

    Sleep Focus turns on or off again at the next scheduled bedtime or wake-up time.

  2. Disable Sleep Focus for all sleep schedules

    – Open the Health app on your iPhone.

    – Scroll down to Your Schedules and tap “Schedules & Options”.
    – Disable “Use Schedules for Sleep Focus”.
    – With this setting disabled, sleep schedules remain in effect, but Sleep Focus is not automatically activated. You can turn this setting back on at any time.

Set up Sleep mode in the Health app

The Health app on iPhone can help you set a sleep goal and track progress over time.

  1. Open the Health app on your iPhone.
  2. Under Set Up Sleep, tap Start Next.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to set:
  • Sleep Focus: To reduce distractions on your iPhone and Apple Watch, you can simplify your Lock Screen and turn on Sleep Focus at your scheduled bedtime. You can also give certain people or apps permission to send you notifications.
  • Track Sleep with Apple Watch: sleep with your Apple Watch on your arm to track your sleep. This option will be available during setup if you've paired your Apple Watch with your iPhone before. If you pair your Apple Watch after setup, you can still turn on “Track Sleep with Apple Watch” later.

You can adjust wind down mode and sleep goal as needed on your iPhone or Apple Watch.

On iPhone

  1. Open the Health app, tap Explore at the bottom of the screen, then tap Sleep. If you have Sleep mode saved to your favorites list, you can access it from the Summary page in the Health app.
  2. Tap “Timetables and Options”.
  3. Tap Wind Down Mode or “Sleep Goal” under Additional Details.
  4. Adjust the time and tap Wind Down Mode or “Sleep Goal” to save the changes.

On Apple Watch

  1. Open the Sleep app.
  2. Tap the sleep-alarm-icon in the top left corner.
  3. Tap Wind Down Mode or “Sleep Goal” under Options.
  4. Tap the Plus and Minus buttons to adjust the time.
  5. Tap the left arrow in the top left corner to go back and save changes.
