She commended those who are willing to disclose their funding sources, adding that those who do so should not face harassment for their transparency.
“We will haunt those who finance under the table because we don't know what their intentions are. We must declare and disclose and it is ok to do so, and those who declare and disclose should also not be harassed,” she said.
Ramokgopa acknowledged that some individuals or organizations may avoid supporting parties financially, fearing backlash or damage to their reputation.
“For example, now a lot of companies are saying, 'Oh, we finance you, the next thing our names are going to be all over the media – that hurts our brand.'”
Ramokgopa urged South Africans to recognize and support those who fund political parties in a transparent manner.
“It doesn’t matter if they finance any other party. You should also applaud those who fund openly and transparently,” she said.
The ANC has been engaging with Western Cape communities in preparation for the party's 113th anniversary celebrations in Cape Town on Saturday.
