In groups of more than 32 people, only the voice calling option will be available.
By cell phone
Time required: 2 minutes
- Access the group
Open the WhatsApp application and access the group where you want to make the call. Make sure it has up to 32 people maximum. Tap the camera icon at the top of the screen.
- Istart the call
At the bottom of the screen, the green button will appear with the option “Start call”. Click on it. Wait for group participants to join the call.

Via the PC application
- Open the application: on your computer, open the WhatsApp application and locate the group where you want to make the call. At the top of the screen, find the camera icon to start the video call.
- Confirm the connection: Click on the camera icon and, at the top right, confirm the option to start the group call.
- Connecting successfully: a call window will open with your camera activated. Group participants will appear on the screen as they join the call.
How to join an incoming group video call
When someone invites you to a group video call, a notification will be sent.
- Tap To enter in the notification to participate.
- If you prefer, tap Ignore not to enter at the moment.
On the call screen, you will be able to see who is already participating and who has not yet joined. If you want, tap To enter again to join the call.
During the call:
- Swipe up to view participants.
- To add more people, select Add people.
- Use the option To call to notify guests who have not yet attended.
Important notes:
Video calls on WhatsApp allow up to 32 active participants at a time, but it is essential that everyone has a stable internet connection, as the quality of the call will be limited by the weaker connection between participants.
During the call, you can turn off the video by tapping the corresponding icon, but you cannot remove participants while the call is in progress; each person needs to exit manually.
It's important to note that you can join a group call with a blocked person, although you can't add them directly to the call.
Additionally, video calling is only available on Android devices running OS 4.1 or later.
