With Botafogo's new lineup, Adryelson could debut against Timão

Leader Botafogo defends the top spot in the Brasileirão this Saturday (14) at 9pm against Corinthians at Engenhão. However, it will not have coach Artur Jorge in command on the sidelines, as he is serving an automatic suspension after being penalized for receiving the third yellow card.

The team trained all week with midfielder Danilo Barbosa among the starters, paired with Marlos Freitas. Another change will be at left-back. Cuiabano is injured and cannot play yet, and according to expectations, Alex Telles will take his place. There is also a high chance that Vitinho will go to full-back in place of Mateo Ponte. Midfielder Gregore is also suspended.

Libertadores match

With the game against São Paulo approaching next Wednesday, it is possible that Adryelson will be among those selected. On the other hand, Angolan defender Bastos, who played for his country's national team in recent weeks, should be rested from the game against Timão.

The lineup for Saturday will only be confirmed on the day of the game, during the pre-match talk as usual. Glorioso will probably take to the field with John, in goal; Vitinho (or Mateo Ponte), Bastos (or Adryelson), Barboza and Alex Telles (or Marçal); in the midfield with Danilo Barbosa (or Allan) and Gregore; Luiz Henrique, Thiago Almada and Savarino; up front, Igor Jesus.

Fortaleza's stumble against Internacional on the 11th kept Botafogo in the lead with 50 points in the Brazilian league and two points ahead of second-placed Fortaleza. If they win the game against Corinthians, they will remain in the lead, maintaining an average of points that greatly favors their path to the national title.

Path to the final round

Botafogo will have two matches against G-6 teams away from Rio de Janeiro and three against teams from the current relegation zone. All at Nilton Santos.

There are still 39 points to be fought for until the end of the championship, which means 13 games. To reach the 70 points that coach Artur Jorge wants, Botafogo will need to score 20. Supposedly 6 wins and 2 draws. The chances are good: in total there will be 7 games at home and 6 away.
