Xavi Simons – PSV is in the process of keeping Xavi Simons in Eindhoven for longer. Paris Saint-Germain can bring back the nineteen-year-old forward with a clause, but coach Ruud van Nistelrooij hopes that the talent will sign.

Simons made the transfer from PSG to PSV on a free transfer last summer. He signed a contract in Eindhoven until mid-2027. PSG can activate a buyback clause of 12 million euros and bring back the Orange international, provided that the player is open to it.

Van Nistelrooij indicated on Tuesday in the run-up to the cup match with FC Emmen that PSV wants to keep Simons longer. “The environment in Eindhoven is stable. There is plenty of room for him at the club to develop further,” the coach said at the press conference, quoted by the Eindhovens Dagblad.

Simons plays a major role at PSV this season, Van Nistelrooij acknowledged. The forward has produced twelve goals and five assists in 29 games. “It’s wonderful that he’s very important to us at such a young age,” the coach said. Xavi Simons

“It is clear that Xavi is a key player for us, also in the construction of this PSV. Partly for this reason, he and his management are also being discussed about an extension. We need to see how that develops. I am positive that an extension will come out of that.”

Boscagli returns to match selection

Van Nistelrooij confirmed that Anwar El Ghazi has been out for at least a few weeks. The forward was out early in Sunday’s game with Feyenoord (2-2) with a muscle injury.

Right-back Phillipp Mwene, who suffered a concussion against Feyenoord, will also not be there against FC Emmen. Defender Armando Obispo has been suspended for two games for his red card in De Kuip.

Olivier Boscagli makes his return to psv’s match selection. The 25-year-old defender suffered a serious knee injury in April last year and has not played since.
