It is estimated that 200 families lost their homes in a fire that spread Selby's informal agreement on Monday night.
This is according to Robert Mulaudzi, a gateway to the emergency management services of the city of Johannesburg, who said no injuries were reported.
Firefighters officers extinguished the fire.
Mulaudzi said the food installments and blankets were disseminated to the affected residents. The city's entities and the donor gift were on site to offer more assistance.
Although the cause of the fire is yet to be established, Mulaudzi has recalled that residents exert caution around electrical items and cooking devices, such as paraffin stoves.
