ASTRO's Moonbin Dies at 25: An Unexpected Tragedy

Singer Moonbin, member of the K-Pop group Astro, was found dead in the apartment where he lived in Seoul, South Korea. The artist's manager found him dead. According to the local press, the police are working on the hypothesis of suicide and the possibility of an autopsy is being discussed to discover the exact cause of the 25-year-old boy's early death.

Born in 1998 in Cheongju, Moon Bin became known professionally as Moonbin and also worked as a Korean dancer, model and actor. But, his fame came when in 2016, he became a member of the South Korean boy group Astro, created by the agency Fantagio. Mj, Jinjin, Cha Eun-woo, Yoon San-há and Rocky were also part of the group.

In her modeling career, her mother was the main influence, where in 2004 she debuted as a child model. Portraying a mini U-know Yunho, in the song “Balloons” in 2006 was where he had his first recognized appearance. In 2009, he made his acting debut where he won a role in the Korean drama “Boys Over Flowers”. In the plot, the artist played the younger version of the character Kim Bum.

His first extended play, Spring Up in the group Astro had five songs, and the first single “Hide & Seek” was there too. In 2018, he was announced to be part of two seasons of “The Ultimate Watchlist of Latest Trends”. In 2019, Moonbin was cast to play the character of Jung Oh-jein “Moments of Eighteen”.

In 2020, Moon Bin formed a duo with Yoon San-hadebuting the EP “In-Out”, with the track “Bad Idea”. On June 5th, the duo would come to Brazil for the first time. They also had shows announced in Mexico City and Santiago, Chile.

On social media, Fantagio published a note lamenting the artist's death and appealing to fans to reject malicious and speculative information so that the bereaved family can continue with the wake rituals.

According to the statement, the wake will be held as silently as possible with only the presence of colleagues from the agency, friends and family.
