Friendly match with Spain postpones the possibility of the national team playing in the national territory

A CBF confirmed that the Brazilian team will play a friendly match against the Spain, in March of the following year. The agreement for the duel was from the president Ednaldo Rodrigues and the president of Royal Spanish Federation Luis Rabiales. The friendly will take place at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid, and its main objective is to combat racism.

Although it was a good initiative by the two representatives, it reinforces once again the issue of the Brazilian team not playing games in our country, with the exception of the World Cup qualifying matches. Ednaldo Rodrigues himself, when he took office in March last year, declared that it would be one of the priorities to make the selection play more often in Brazil.

Excluding the Qualifiers matches plus the last two Copa Americathe team played its last friendly match in Brazil in June 2019, when it thrashed the selection of Honduras by 7 to 0 in Beira-Rio Stadium in Porto Alegre. At the time, the friendly match was preparatory to the Copa America dispute that year, where Brazil ended up as champion of the tournament.

Since then, the team has only played friendlies outside our country, especially in Europe. This is due to a partnership of CBF with the English company Pitch which for a decade was responsible for selling Brazil’s friendlies on the European continent. The partnership contract ended in December. This caused a lot of dissatisfaction among members of the CBF and even the former coach Titein relation to the location of the games, the state of the field and mainly the level of the opponents.

On this Fifa Date, Brazil will once again play two friendlies in Europe. This Saturday (17), the canary face the selection of Guinea in Barcelona, ​​and next Tuesday (20), he will play against Senegal in Lisbon.
