Israel has the first direct conflict against Hezbollah

This Tuesday (1), the Israeli Army stated that Israel and the extremist group Hezbollah had their first direct confrontation, in southern Lebanon, since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip, which completes one year in October. The spokesman for the Israeli forces said they had begun carrying out land incursions and accused Hezbollah of using the Lebanese population as a human shield.

The invasions, which began this Tuesday (1), aim to attack specific points in Hezbollah's infrastructure that pose a risk to northern Israel, without providing precise locations, using Army soldiers on the ground and the support of Hezbollah aircraft. Air Force. The military spokesman also called on civilians in southern Lebanon to immediately leave their homes and head to the north bank of the Awali River.

Intense bombings and the presence of other aircraft are being reported by residents living in the border region of the attacks. The extremist group carried out a counterattack, launching 10 rockets at Israel, which managed to intercept some of them, while the others fell in open areas. So far, there are no reports of deaths or injuries on either side.

Growing tension in the region

The clashes began after a Hamas attack in southern Israel, which left 1,200 dead and some hostages, when Hezbollah fired rockets into the northern region of Israel in support of the Palestinian group. However, other than that, there were no major clashes between them.

The scenario changed at the end of July, when Israel carried out an offensive on the Lebanese capital, Beirut, killing one of the militia commanders, Fu'ad Shukr. Furthermore, in September, Israeli military action managed to explode hundreds of communications equipment used by extremists, resulting in deaths and injuries among group members and civilians. Also in September, Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah was killed after another bombing in the capital.
