Marvel Studios changes its production schedule and changes “Armor Wars” format

The announcement arrived yesterday, the 29th, via The Hollywood Reporter that “Armor Wars” will no longer be an exclusive Disney+ series and will be a film released in theaters. The initial project of a 6-episode series was changed to a feature film with the aim of telling the story in the best way possible.

The screenwriter who would be responsible for the series, Yassir Lester, continues in the same role for the film. The same happens with Don Cheadle, who will reprise his role as James Rhodes, War Machine, and will be the protagonist. The project still remains without a director and cast extension, however it received a new logo during the Marvel Studios panel at D23.

The first announcement about “Armor Wars” took place in 2020 during an event for investors and so far details about production have not yet been revealed. But during D23 this year, Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, stated that “Armor Wars” will be the direct sequel to “Secret Invasion”, a series starring Samuel L. Jackson that is scheduled for release in 2023. During D23, along with the launch of the new logo a question was asked: “What would happen if Tony Stark's technology fell into the wrong hands?” which would indicate the possible production plot.

It is still uncertain where Marvel is in the production and project calendar, so far the studio's release schedule remains as follows:

Four dates were also reserved by Marvel Studios for phase 7 projects, in the year 2026, namely: February 13th, May 1st, July 24th and November 6th.
