Final Fantasy XVI Producer Confirms There Are No DLC Plans

Naoki Yoshida, producer of Final Fantasy XVI, confirmed that there are no plans to release DLC for the game, saying that the team has committed to delivering a complete story with this game after criticism with previous Final Fantasy regarding this.

“It’s a game with everything,” said Yoshida in an interview with Game Informer. “We are asking players to pay full price for this experience and therefore we want an experience that is equal to the amount of money players will pay and we want them to get satisfaction equal to what they paid or even more than that.”

“We have no idea if people are going to fall in love with Valisthea and fall in love with Clive’s story and want to see more of the world and more of his characters,” he continued. “So while we always want to consider DLC or spin-offs or those kinds of things where you can learn more about the game, first we want to see if Valisthea and Clive are really things that players around the world want to see more of and then take that. that decision.”

The absence of DLCs contrasts with what Square Enix has been doing in more recent games in its acclaimed franchise. Final Fantasy VII Remake received the Intergrade DLC, Final Fantasy XIII became a trilogy, Final Fantasy XV was criticized for having an incomplete story, which was later filled in with DLCs.
