Even with the defeat of the Bernardinho team, they remain calm

Last Tuesday (21), Bernandinho made his debut with the volleyball team. The coach behaved in a way that Brazilian fans may have found strange. Accustomed to his euphoric reactions, the coach behaved more calmly for most of the match, even in a game with many mistakes and a defeat to Cuba in the Nations League.

The Brazilian team made 21 mistakes on serve alone, and not even the 64-year-old coach was able to completely stop himself. Bernardinho moved and complained, but often made an effort to reduce the scolding and exchange it for encouragement.

Bernardinho is calmer

This tranquility has been seen since the training period, in Rio de Janeiro, in Saquarema. To the media, Bernardinho highlighted that he is focusing on the Paris Olympics, in which Brazil already has a guaranteed place. Therefore, the Nations League will be the team's base, where tests and adaptations will be made, without leaving the competition aside.

Players talk about the coach's demands

Many players in the current team had never been led by the coach. Darlan, the young man opposite, commented that Bernardinho demands a lot, but in a light way with those who don't have a certain intimacy.

¨He knows what to charge, how to charge. Sometimes he's explosive, but I think he's calmer, more contained. We, players, make mistakes and we need to know how to listen to demands, both from teammates and from the coach. The charge is positive, it makes us evolve. For me, it has been sensational to live with Bernardo. He understands a lot about volleyball,” commented libero Thales, who is taking part in the Paris Games.

Even at a disadvantage, the coach maintained a mild tone with the players during technical periods, conveying confidence and allowing the players to speak as well, controversial images seen in the past.

Bernardinho was still on the court at the end of the match, talking to the athletes and other members of the coaching staff. He did not pass through the mixed zone and gave interviews to journalists.

Brazil returns to the courts this Thursday (23), against Argentina, at 9 pm (Brasília time). The game will be hosted at Maracanãzinho, in Rio de Janeiro.
