After divorce, Tom Brady says he has “zero” regrets about returning to the NFL
Tom Brady said he has no doubts about his return to American football, even though international press sources say his return to the field ended his marriage to model Gisele Bündchen.
“Zero [arrependimento], no. Definitely not”said the 45-year-old quarterback during a press conference last Friday (11), when asked if he regretted returning to the NFL after seeing his team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, accumulate several defeats.

“I came back because I felt like I wanted to compete and I spoke to the team about it, and they were excited to have me back,” Brady added to ESPN. “I don't really regret that kind of thing, I think when I commit to something, I mean it, and I do my best and try to give everything I can to this particular opportunity.”
In saying this, Tom seemed to be referring only to his team's subpar performance and did not explicitly comment on his regret regarding how his career choices may have impacted the end of his marriage.
These past two months I've realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands. That time will come. But it's not now. I love my teammates, and I love my supportive family. The athlete announced his retirement in January – only to return to the sport six weeks later. According to speculation in the international press, his return to the field was the breaking point in his marriage with the Brazilian model.
Although neither of them has confirmed the reason for ending their relationship, both Tom and Gisele have publicly commented that the quarterback's career had a certain impact on their family, including Gisele stating that she would love for her then-husband to retire and take on a more senior role. “gift” in raising the couple's two children, Benjamin and Vivian, as well as the athlete's eldest son, Jack, from a previous relationship.
“She was very happy when he announced his retirement and was not at all thrilled when he came back,” a source told People magazine just as rumors began that the two were splitting up.
For his part, Tom has already admitted to taking a backseat when it comes to his parental duties, saying during an interview with Howard Stern in 2020 that Gisele didn't feel like he was exerting his influence at home.
“She felt like I would play football all season and she would take care of the house. And then all of a sudden a season would end and I was like, 'Great, start all my other business activities. Let me start my football training'”, he recalled at the time. “That was a big part of our marriage that I had to check out myself. Because for her it's like, 'I have goals and dreams too… You better start taking care of things around the house too.'”
Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen, who married in 2009, announced their separation and finalized their divorce at the end of October.
