Despite technical problems and absences, “forever pop” has a exciting show

The Saturday of the last weekend of the 40th anniversary of Rock in Rio (21) is Dia Brasil, the date selected by the festival to celebrate the plurality of national music. It is being marked by shows that bring together big names of various rhythms in Brazil, but also for the chaos of technical problems and delays since the first performance of the day, with the show “For always Trap” delaying in more than an hour. With this, the original schedule of the day has undergone changes and readjustments, changing the times of the other shows of the day. The “forever pop”, which was previously scheduled for 10:35 pm, happened around 8:45 pm.

Iconic duets marked the show

The pop genre was represented by Lulu Santos, Luísa Sonza, Jão, Duda Beat, Gloria Groove and Ivete Sangalo. The show was divided between duets and small solo appearances. An artist entered the Sunset stage and invited another, who then sang alone for some tracks, so on.

The first to take the stage was Lulu Santos, who, according to Globo, questioned by the organization of Rock in Rio about wanting to perform at “Forever Rock” or “Forever Pop”, said being “from the pop guys”. The rhythm avant -garde sang “modern times,” as he did in 1985 in the first edition of the festival. “I've been here since the beginning of this story, and for the first time we are here celebrating our music, Brazilian music,” said Lulu.

The artist also performed “Saturday night” and “just one more love”, before inviting Luísa Sonza to the first duet of the show. Joining nostalgia and futurism, the artists divided the vocals of “like a wave.” Sonza remained in Sunset to sing some of her hits, such as “Sacred Profane” and “Launches Girl.”

Soon after, the gaucho called Jão, who performed on Thursday (19) on the World Stage. The blondes performed “trickster”, classic by Cassia Eller. With a short time for solo performance, the artist performed his hits “licks me” and “idiot”, delivering his characteristic charisma and the enthusiasm of his pop.

The next to enter the stage was Duda Beat, which according to herself, represents the alternative pop. In addition to presenting “How I Want” with Jão, the artist performed her hits “Bichinho” and “Tangerina”, partnership with Tiago Iorc. The Pernambuco invited Gloria Groove to perform Djavan's “Sina”.

Then it was the moment for Lady East shine, in the liveliest part of the show. Gloria Groove performed career hits such as “red”, “gold butt” and “good thing”, raising the audience. The drag invited Mainha, who took the stage to present “I don't want money (I just want to love)”. In introducing Ivete Sangalo, Groove stated that “it wouldn't be here if it weren't for her.”

Veveta was responsible for ending the forever pop and shuddered the city of rock again, after his astronomical show on their day (20). The artist sang consecrated hits such as “Macetando”, “Dust”, “Festa” and “Accelerates Aê”.

Absences and problems have affected forever pop

Like the other shows of Brazil Day, forever pop was marked by technical problems, such as microphone failures, clear even with the line-up giving its best and delivering the known quality. After a tiring afternoon for the artists and the public, especially for the Line-Up of Parap, the city of rock received a coherent pop show, but missed other big names, such as Anitta, Pabllo Vittar and Ludmilla, figures of Extreme importance for the conjuncture of Brazilian pop today, as well as leading to Brazilian Brazilianness.

Lud was part of the show's line-up originally, but canceled his presence on Brazil in advance. Performing themselves on the first weekend of Rock in Rio 2024, Carioca also faced problems with the organization of the event because of its stage structure, which had to be adapted for the show to happen.

Anitta has an old quarrel with the festival, stating that she would never perform in the same. After 3 years with shows at Rock in Rio in Rio de Janeiro and Lisbon, in 2019, 2018 and 2022, respectively, Anitta had her performance criticized by Roberta Medina, executive of the festival and exposed the privileges of international artists over Brazilians in Rock in Rio.

“I don't walk at this festival never again. Only if one day they decide to give the artists who speak Portuguese the same respect they give to foreigners. Ask the bravest how they are treated, who is from Brazil and how it is treated who is out. It's as if they are doing a big favor, “said Girl from Rio at the time in part of his position.

Already Vittar, never had a solo show at laugh. The drag has performed three times at the festival, but on both occasions, being invited by artists who were part of the line-up. In 2017, the artist took the stage at the invitation of Fergie in 2022, Rita Ora. Already this year, Pabllo was invited to the World stage by Karol G, to perform “alibi” with Sevdaliza and Yesult. Having performed numerous times at Lollapalooza, in national and international editions, at Coachella, besides being on the grand show of Madonna in Rio, Pabllo follows outside the official program of Rock in Rio for another edition.
