According to information released by Reuters, Uber has hired former Tesla executive Rebecca Tinucci to lead the global transition to electronic vehicles on the platform.
Rebecca joins the team at a time when Uber plans to achieve 100% sustainability. The plan is to achieve zero emissions by 2040, electrifying its entire fleet with an investment of $800 million by 2025 to achieve this goal.
Tinucci will be Uber’s global head of sustainability and will also oversee partnerships involving sustainable packaging, which will help reduce plastic waste in restaurant deliveries. She is expected to start on September 16 and will report to Andrew Macdonald, Uber’s head of mobility.
“His deep experience, his relationships across the automotive industry… will be an incredible asset to the Uber team as we continue our drive toward zero emissions,” Macdonald says in the internal memo seen by Reuters.
Sustainability
Uber's official website states that the company is committed to becoming an all-electric, zero-carbon platform by 2040. Also on the website, the company states that it is the largest mobility platform in the world and is therefore responsible for implementing sustainable resources to meet the challenge of climate change.

UBER
Officially founded in June 2010 in the United States, the company initially focused on luxury car services, but the company expanded its portfolio to get closer to people and revolutionize the way people move around cities. In Brazil, the mobility company began operating in 2014 and, according to data from Uber, the platform has already completed more than 11 billion trips and estimates that around 125 million Brazilians have used the app at least once. This amount corresponds to approximately 80% of the country's adult population.
