Presenter Renata Vasconcellos leaves JN due to a cold
Presenter William Bonner, from Jornal Nacional, announced in an Instagram live this Friday morning (16) that presenter Renata Vasconcelos will remain away from the Jornal Nacional stand for at least one more day due to a cold. According to Bonner: “ She called to say 'I'm great, I'm coming back today', and coughed. You can't, the cold hasn't completely gone away. We have a protocol here according to which as long as you have symptoms of the cold, the flu, whatever, it doesn't come back. You can pass it on to someone. Secondly, at the moment we live in, when someone coughs, the first thing we think is 'we need to take a PCR test'. And then it's a hassle”.

Journalist Renata Vasconcellos' last appearance at Jornal Nacional took place on July 9th. After that date, the presenter began to experience respiratory problems resulting from a cold, which led Globo to take the decision to keep her away for a week. As the symptoms of flu and Covid-19 are very similar, the broadcaster chose to remove Renata, so that she could carry out all the necessary tests to rule out any suspicion of Covid-19.
Journalist Ana Luiza Guimarães was chosen by the broadcaster to replace presenter Renata Vasconcellos, on the Jornal Nacional bench alongside William Bonner until the presenter can return.
Renata Vasconcellos, after working as a photographic model and having appeared in soap operas, decided to dedicate herself to Journalism. The presenter graduated in Social Communication at PUC – RJ and began her television career in 1996 on the Globonews program 'Emcidade da Hora'. Before arriving at Jornal Nacional, the presenter worked at Jornal Hoje and Jornal da Globo, however, it was in 2014 that Renata Vasconcellos took over at Jornal Nacional alongside William Bonner after the presenter's departure.
