The Madrid Derby, a clash between Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid, had an additional component this Sunday (29), a questionable act carried out by the home team's fans. Targeting goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, fans of the colchonero team threw objects onto the pitch, shortly after Real Madrid opened the scoring.
What happened
The referee stopped the game 25 minutes into the second half after the Rojiblanca fans threw objects towards the goalkeeper. In protest, Real players left the field.

This episode, added to previous acts of racism against Vinicius Jr., ended up alerting Spanish Government authorities. The Minister of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, Pilar Alegría, went public to declare that the situation has been investigated and will result in heavy sanctions on Atlético de Madrid.
“What happened tarnishes the magnificent image of Spanish football and its fans. There will be an absolutely forceful response, once the details that the forces and security bodies give us are known,” assured Pilar.
Interruption
The derby was stopped for around 20 minutes and Atleti later identified one of the fans, giving him a permanent ban from all games held at the Cívitas Metropolitano Stadium. The match, valid for La Liga, ended with a 1-1 draw. The game once again had insults directed at Vini Jr. before it started.
In the championship, Barcelona remains in the lead, while both Madrid teams are chasing the top of the table. The team's next match under the command of Diego Simeone takes place this Wednesday (2), at 4pm (Brasília time), in the Champions League, when they will host Benfica in their territory. On this same day and time, Real Madrid will be in France, where they will face Lille, also in the Champions League.
