The messaging application WhatsApp presented global instability in the late afternoon of this Wednesday (19). Immediately after going offline, around 5 pm, several users started reporting the problem on Twitter and also on other social networks. The instability persisted for nearly an hour.
The downdetector website, which monitors failures and crashes of websites and applications, received more than 6,600 WhatsApp instability notifications around 5:05 pm. The peak of complaints occurred at 5:22 pm. According to the website, 52% of notifications were recorded that reported difficulties using the application and 45% for sending messages. In Brazil, there was a peak of 44,000 complaints from users of the messaging app.
On Twitter, there were more than 419,000 publications citing WhatsApp this afternoon, reporting that they were unable to send or receive messages, photos and videos. The computer version, WhatsApp Web, also suffered from the fall.
Other countries have reported the problem
Instability also occurred in other countries, such as the United Kingdom, with 177,000 complaints, the United States, with 34,000 complaints, and France, with 209,000 complaints. Mexico, Sweden and Pakistan have also reported the problem.
WhatsApp used its official Twitter profile to bring satisfaction to users during the outage of the service. “We are working quickly to resolve the connectivity issues with WhatsApp and will update you as soon as possible.”.
After nearly an hour of instability, the messaging app is back up and running. “And we’re back, happy chat!”, posted on official account 20 minutes after the first message. However, the platform did not explain why the application was off the air.

Instabilities in other applications
According to Downdetector, Instagram and Facebook also suffered instabilities. Instagram peaked with 2,100 notifications at 3:12 pm. Facebook, on the other hand, had 48% of reports of users having problems accessing both the application and the website.
However, the problem was reported by users from other countries such as the United States, Germany, Japan, Canada and France.
