Pastor sues Ye for plagiarism in song Come to Life,
Ye is charged with plagiarism by Pastor David Paul Moten. The pastor from Texas believes that part of his sermon was used for Ye’s song Come to Life, reports TMZ.
According to Moten, seventy seconds of his religious speech would have been incorporated into Ye’s song without permission. The song lasts a total of just over five minutes.
Come to Life is featured on West’s album Donda, which was released last year. Moten is not happy “that the music industry knowingly uses samples without informing the rightful owner or asking for permission”.
In addition to Ye, the pastor is also suing Universal Music Group, Def Jam Recordings and GOOD Music. He wants compensation from all parties.
West’s spokesmen declined to comment.
