West Ham United signed player – West Ham United paid big money for Nayef Aguerd on Monday. The 26-year-old Moroccan defender comes for 35 million euros from Stade Rennais and has signed a five-year contract with the Premier League clubs.

With his transfer fee, Aguerd is among the top five most expensive West Ham acquisitions ever. The record is in the name of Sébastien Haller, for whom three years ago 50 million euros was transferred to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Aguerd has played the past two seasons for Stade Rennais, which took him over from Dijon. The central defender came in that period to eighty official matches, in which he delivered seven goals and four assists in addition to his defensive duties.

Last season, Stade Rennais played twice against Vitesse in the Conference League. Aguerd completed the ninety minutes in both group games. With his club he was stranded in the eighth finals. (West Ham United signed player)

In the Moroccan national team, the counter for Aguerd stands at 22 international matches. He made his debut in 2016 and has almost always been a basic player at ‘De Leeuwen van de Atlas’ for more than a year now. Normally he will be there at the end of this year at the World Cup.

Aguerd is part of expensive Premier League wins

With his transfer fee, Aguerd, who is West Ham’s first new player for the new season, is still among the most expensive Premier League acquisitions early in the summer transfer window.

Only For Darwin Núñez (for 75 million euros to Liverpool), Erling Haaland (for 60 million euros to Manchester City) and Fábio Vieira (for 35 million euros to Arsenal) has been paid the same or more so far.

Manager David Moyes’ West Ham finished seventh in the Premier League last season behind Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Manchester United.
