Capcom removes Denuvo from Resident Evil Village
Capcom has decided to remove the Denuvo anti-piracy technology from the PC (Steam) version of Resident Evil Village. An update was made available this Monday (10) removing the DRM.
The news will be very welcome by players who were avoiding the PC version of the game after reports that Denuvo negatively affected its performance.
When the game was released in May 2021, players complained that the PC version suffered from serious performance issues, which gained even more support when a pirated version of the game came out in July 2021 without protection and ran better than The original.
The hackers who claimed to have removed the protection from the game said at the time that it included both Denuvo and Capcom’s own anti-piracy protection, with the combination of both supposedly causing the performance issues.
Capcom eventually released a patch that same month, bringing optimizations to the anti-piracy technology, resulting in improvements in game performance.
