Billie Eilish Record stamp for Rock en Seine, a 20th anniversary that sees very big

1.5 million euros, here is the gargantuan sum spent by Rock en Seine on the occasion of the visit of Billie Eilish on August 23, 2023. This year, the Rock-en-Seine festival organized at the Domaine National de Saint-Cloud , will welcome for its sixteenth edition artists from all over the world such as Christine and the Queens, Tove Lo but above all… Billie Eilish.

A few months after breaking up with Matthew Tyler Vorce, the 21-year-old singer will perform on the Rock en Seine stage in front of more than 150,000 festival-goers. However, one question torments competing festivals… with a budget of 14 million euros financed 12% by private partnerships and less than 5% by the Ile-de-France Region, is it reasonable to devote nearly half the daily receipts to a single singer?

To justify such an expense, the organizer of the festival, Matthieu Ducos, spoke to an AFP journalist: “This will be his only French date at a summer festival. “According to the organizer, Billie Eilish is” an artist of the new generation who impresses because at 21 she already has a rich career (..) Rock en Seine, without rock on stage?

Initially created to highlight alternative, punk and rock music, Rock en Seine is now opening up to a new genre, pop. Although the festival always leaves room for new alternative artists, Matthieu Ducos hopes to attract a new young and international audience this time around.
