“Sorria 2” is scheduled for release in 2024

The film “Smile 2” will hit theaters on October 18, 2024. The date was chosen because it is close to the Halloween holiday in the United States, a common time for the release of horror films. The news was released yesterday afternoon (23) by the news portal Deadline and confirmed by Paramount Pictures, the company responsible.

About the movie

The sequel will have Parker Finn back as director, who directed and scripted the first film. More information, such as the cast and the start of recording are still uncertain due to the strike by Hollywood actors and screenwriters, which should directly impact the film's production.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Parker Finn has signed a partnership with Paramount, and together they will work on new psychological horror productions in the coming years.

Brian Robbins, CEO of Paramount Pictures, stated that he is excited for “Smile 2” with Parker Finn's return to direct and that he hopes the film repeats the success of its predecessor: “The success of 'Smile' is the result of Parker Finn's talent and unique vision, and we are excited for him to make Paramount his home.”he stated.

“He used to smile”

The predecessor to “Sorria 2”, a psychological thriller released in 2022, was a success with audiences and critics. With an 80% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and more than US$200 million in box office revenue, “Sorria” became the biggest hit of its kind last year.

The story revolves around doctor Rose Cotter, played by actress Sosie Bacon (“As We See It”). When the doctor witnesses an incident involving one of her patients, she begins to witness supernatural events that are beyond her control.
