Leonardo DiCaprio could be nominated for an Oscar for the film “Killers of the Flower Moon”

Leonardo DiCaprio is already among the Oscar nominations for the film, “Killers of the Flower Moon”. The feature film has not yet premiered, but it was presented at the Cannes Festival, which was enough to select the stars for the new awards season. DiCaprio reinforces his partnership with filmmaker Martin Scorsese, and secures his eighth Oscar nomination.

According to information obtained by Variety magazine, Apple will campaign for Lily Gladstone (the actress who plays Mollie) and Leonardo DiCaprio to get Oscar nominations. In 2016, the actor won the award for the film “The Revenant”, in addition to having a collection of nominations.

The actor's first nomination was in 1994, nominated for his supporting role in the feature film “Gilbert Grape: The Dreamer's Apprentice”. Nine years later, in 2005, he was nominated for best actor for “The Aviator”; in 2007 “Blood Diamond” and “The Wolf of Wall Street” in 2014; including the latter, provided an indication as producer. The film “Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood” was DiCaprio’s most recent Oscar nomination, in 2020.

In the feature film, Leonardo DiCaprio will play Ernest Burkhart, a real American character, married to Native American Mollie Burkhart. Mollie's uncle, William King Hale, with an eye on her fortune, kills all of her relatives one by one. The plot takes place in Oklahoma, in 1920, when the indigenous people of the Osage population suddenly become millionaires because of oil exploration.

The new trailer for “Killers of the Flower Moon” was released by Paramount Pictures last Wednesday (13). Scheduled to premiere in theaters on October 20, the film is directed by Martin Scorsese, starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
