On Sunday, March 3rd, the Tokyo Marathon will take place, the first major of the year, and as people like to say, in style.
The men's race will have the presence of the Kenyan Eliud Kipchogerecord holder for the route (2:02:40 – 2022) and considered the best marathon runner of all time and, in women's, the Dutch Sifan Hassana rising star in the 42 km, having won London and Chicago in 2023, and in the latter, he broke the course record with the second fastest time in history (2:13:44).
But don't think that Kipchoge and Hassan will have an easy life. The men's squad has the presence of Kenyans Vincent Kipkemoi Ngetich (2:03:13 – Berlin 2023), Timothy Kiplagat (2:03:50 – Rotterdam 2023), Benson Kipruto (2:04:02 – Chicago 2023). Among women, the test will be the Ethiopian Amane Beriso (2:14:58 – Valencia 2022), Rosemary Wanjiru (Kenyan winner of Tokyo 23 with 2:16:28), Lonah Salpeter (Israel, 2:17:45 – Tokyo 2020), Tgist Abayechew (Ethiopia, 2:18:03 – Berlin 2022) and Asefa Kebede (2:18:12, Seoul 2022).
The race will be broadcast on ESPN via the app Star+ (link here) from 9pm on Saturday, March 2nd, in Spanish. There is no forecast for broadcast on Brazilian ESPN.
O Air Race he will do the traditional alternative broadcast, commenting on the race with his friends Paulinho Stone and Felipe Arakawa. Follow through this link.
