The artist was diagnosed with cancer in 2022 and had already been hospitalized several times. He suffered from a rare type of cancer that affects the groin area: inguinal cancer. This type can be caused by metastasis (which is when tumors spread to other parts) of other types of cancer, such as bladder, prostate, uterus, bladder and even melanoma.

The member of the Genitourinary Tumors Committee of the Brazilian Society of Clinical Oncology (SBOC) and oncologist, Denis Jardim, explained that inguinal cancer has its name in reference to the anatomical region it occupies, which is popularly known as the groin and which carries structures important areas such as lymph nodes, skin and tendons. According to the doctor, symptoms include local pain and the appearance of a nodule in the region, which can be painful and even cause bleeding.

The leader of the Urological Tumor Reference Center, doctor Stênio Zequi, says that “the inguinal region is not usually the site of cancer, there is no such thing as inguinal cancer. This region, the groin, is rich in lymph nodes, lymph nodes, popularly called tongues. There is a large concentration of the body's defense cells, white blood cells.”
